Christmas is coming….obviously!

Tuesday, December 16th, 2008

We think time is speeding up with the advancing years - Christmas is coming all too fast - again! Steve is of the opinion we have already written the Christmas cards this year - four times. (Well, it is a special Birthday for him on New Years day!)

We had a fantastic time in Wales (Llay - nr Wrexham). The church there were just as we expected - warm, welcoming and kind. It was sooo cold there - it looked as though the sheep were frozen to the grass! On the Saturday we had a shepherds and angels party, where the children (and some adults!) came dressed as a shepherd or an angel. The food was appropriately…shepherd’s pie (some of the young shepherds looked very worried when we announced that!) Angel delight was considered for pudding….but the mince pies won… A good time was had by all. The Sunday evening was the “contemporary Christmas service” which also went well as we looked at all that Christmas really means, with the help of a parrot, the Easter bunny (Starsky) and a rather naughty chimpanzee.

Our time in Worthing/Hassocks was good - good and encouraging meetings, and good time with friends…and a lot of food eaten!

Today was Knighton nippers (our church’s tots and carer’s group) always a challenge as most of the children are VERY young. With a candle that wouldn’t blow out we learnt that Jesus is the light of the world, and is here to stay.

The Latvian Winter camps start this week - with quite a large contingent from the UK going. Please pray for the team there as they put the final bits in place, and for the UK team - some of whom have never done Latvia before!

On Sunday we will be doing the all age service at our home church - although nervous about doing stuff on our home patch, the love of our friends there has been so clear as they have encouraged us with their comments about looking forward to the service (No pressure then!)

Kay’s health is much the same, but her GP has put her in for another round of tests….starting tomorrow. Kay hates hospitals, so pray for her sanity…and the sanity of those doing the tests!!

Angels and Shepherd's Party

To of our grown up angels!

So What Have We Been Up To…?

Thursday, December 4th, 2008

Wow – it’s a long time since we updated our blog!

So what we’ve been up to?

All age services, training events, assemblies, meetings, more meetings, lectures, travelling, more assemblies, even more meetings, tons of paper work, E-mails, phone calls, skype calls, some more assemblies, paperwork, and yet more meetings…… The list goes on! We even managed to have a couple days in Falmouth with Steve’s oldest son Peter – which was brilliant.

We spent a great day yesterday with our Latvian friend Karlis. Karlis is part of our children worldwide team in Latvia. He’s always fun to be around as well as being a blessing and an encouragement to us. He’s visiting Leicester for just a week, meeting up with friends and having some rest.

This weekend we will be in Wales doing Christmas ‘services’ with a lovely church we haven’t worked with before. With all our correspondence in planning this, we can tell that we will be very at home with them. We are really looking forward to it!

We drive back on Sunday night, and then drive down to Horsham on Monday ready for a board meeting in the evening. We will be doing various other things whilst we are down there, coming home on Thursday – which just happens to the Kay’s birthday!

Our biggest prayer request moment is for wisdom, grace, peace and safety. We have many decisions to make, and many people to help/mentor….. as well as a lot more travelling to do.

Now….I better update the diary!
