All change!

June 4th, 2008 by Dave and Sue

From September everything will be changing for The Walls….

Dave has now officially resigned from The Bridge in Salisbury and will be available to work more locally in schools and churches, some dates are already in the diary; he’s also hoping to enable links and exchanges with Latvia, particularly as Riga & Salisbury cathedrals are twinned.

Sue’s childminding will be full time from September taking care of a total of six children during each week….but not all at the same time!

Tim hopes to have reached the dizzy heights of 6th form….as long as all the GCSE study has been successful.

And finally, Pete hopes to have Bass guitar lessons in preference to trumpet - though we hope he’ll manage to keep up both….no not at the same time!!

BUT….Praise God that He never changes - He is the same yesterday, today and forever - He is mighty and awesome!

Fantastic weekend with Interserve

May 12th, 2008 by Peter Edley

Pete, Mary and Caitlin are back from a fantastic weekend working at the Interserve conference Swanick.  Pete was leading the 11 - 14’s group and had a great time exploring how we can make an Impact(the main theme of the conference), at home, school and church. We also had fun in the sun spending a lot of the time outside playing mad games mainly involving water.

Caitlin loved being in her own group and could wait to get back to  at the start of each session.

Mary enjoyed being at Swanick with nothing to do other than relax and read.

First Post from The Walls!

April 19th, 2008 by Dave and Sue

Hi Everyone

Well, here you have it- the first ever BLOG post from the Walls.

We’ve had a great break from school over the past two weeks: first memorable day was a trip to Lego Land - we recommend it - we all had a fantastic time!

Then we went off to sunny!!! Minehead (sorry we mean soggy!!!) for a week of Spring Harvest on the Firestarters team with the 8-11 year olds. There were over 300 children registered for a programme full of fun and learning about HOPE.

It seemed strange not to be with Whizz Kids but we were made to feel very welcome by the rest of the team and soon settled into being Firestarters. Tim was on team too. We all had a great time.

Pete was kept busy with the youth group from our church as they were there as guests - he even dared to go on the (VERY) high ropes one windy afternoon - you wouldn’t find Sue up there, that’s for sure!

And to finish off the holidays we had an inflatafun day at church today - a brilliant day full of fun for all ages.

half way through our sabbatical

December 13th, 2007 by kay

Yes - it has been quiet on the blog, hasn’t it!
We have been on a much needed sabbatical and having set ourselves some small tasks - we’ve actually ended up resting and reading! (And making Christmas cards!)
We come out of the break to do the Christmas eve service at our church and then go back to our break until 3rd Jan. We then go into a very busy New Year. (We’ll update the diary soon!)
Tuesday was Kay’s Birthday, and we went to stay with some good friends in Hassocks, had a celebratory meal, and then another one on the Wednesday as the trustess and volunteers from Dalesdown met together for a Christmas lunch. It took a very long time to get home, but now we are looking forward to a short break in Filey, with our usual house sitters looking after the house and the phone.
We may put some photos on the blog to prove we know how to rest……….!

While we were in Northern Ireland, we went to Holywood Primary School. They emailed to say thankyou, and showed us what they put on their website about us.
This is it:

Dear Kay & Steve,
I wanted to write on behalf of our school to thank you for the assembly you did with us in school. The staff and children enjoyed your visit very much and talked about it enthusiastically after you left.I have put your photo on our school website along with a short piece of News that children in my class recorded after seeing your performance. if you are interested in looking at it, it can be found on http://www.holywoodprimary.ik.org/ in the latest news section. Thanks once again.
Keep up your great work! It was very nice to meet you too.
